The Cole in question is Howard Cole. Me. Born in what is now the Scientology building on Sunset Blvd (an Ethier’s throw from Dodger Stadium), I’m the son of Brooklyn parents and an extremely proud Angelino. I love L.A., and I’m not shy about saying so.
After 12 years of blogging almost solely on the Dodgers – 11 at BaseballSavvy.com and the last one-plus at The Orange County Register, I’ve decided to branch out beyond baseball, which is my greatest love, to write about the town as a whole. You’ll still see plenty of Dodgers posting here, but expect much more. In fact, demand more.
Work highlights include a career in L.A. radio (KROQ, KZLA, KMPC), press operations for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, and a host of marketing and public relations projects, nearly all of it coming out of our fair city. And more pizzas delivered that I’d care to admit.
Married to the lovely “Main Squeeze,” whom you’ll see referenced often; no kids, one German Shepherd Dog, Abby (or as officially recorded on her paperwork, Abby Scott Cole).
Cole on L.A. is your clearinghouse for all that’s good in Los Angeles. If you’re into sports, the arts, the food scene and whatever’s creative in L.A., you’ve got a home here, both as reader and participant. Have an event you want to promote, send me your press release. A cool store, a debuting film, or you’ve seen something interesting in and around Los Angeles, email me about it.
Got a worthy link for the L.A. Favorites, send it to me. The blog will “evolve” based on what strikes you and what you share. Pretty much anything goes here, so just lay it on me.
Write for Cole on L.A. Paid opportunities are coming. For now I can pay you peanuts…sometimes Cracker Jack. But there will be perks, and you’ll be treated with gratitude and respect. Always.
